The Tau Omega Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. presents our annual Carl O. Foster Talent Hunt competition to recognize and provide a forum for exceptionally talented high school students. Tau Omega Chapter has been hosting a Talent Hunt competition since its inception in 1945. In our past, we have had winning performances from students attending High Schools within Greensboro and the surrounding area. The Talent Hunt competition is one of the Fraternity’s national community service projects. This program provides exposure, encouragement, and financial assistance to talented young people participating in the Performing Arts.

The competition will take place at Weaver Academy, located at 300 South Spring St, Greensboro, North Carolina in the Auditorium, on Sunday, Februray 17, 2019, at 3:00 PM.

The top 3 winners will be awarded a cash prize from the Tau Omega Chapter:

1st Place – $500.00; 2nd Place – $300.00; 3rd Place – $200.00

The 1st Place Winner will also represent Tau Omega Chapter at the Sixth District Talent Hunt Competition in Greensboro, North Carolina, Transportation allowance and hotel accommodations will be provided by Tau Omega Chapter.

To be eligible:

1.The contestant must be a high school student in a Greensboro public school, private or, parochial school.

2.Classical and semi-classical music will be rendered in vocal or instrumental competition. Some selections from Classical Broadway Musicals are acceptable.

3.All music is to be memorized. If the contestant does not memorize his/her presentation, five points will be deducted from their score.

4.Each performance is limited to six minutes. Exceeding this time limit will result in a deduction of five points.

5.Three copies of the music are required for the Talent Hunt judges.

6.Contestant dress is a follows: dark suits or tuxedos with neck tie/bow tie (for boys); evening dress (for girls)

7.Proper stage presence, stage decorum, bowing, posture, and expressions are all encouraged.

8.The contestant must not have attained professional status; published musical scores or recordings that have been commercially distributed which would serve as the means of supporting his/her livelihood.
